Environment

In November 2006 Larry’s AutoWorks was recognized by the Mountain View City Council as the first certified “Green Business” in Mountain View.

We also abide by the “Green Business Pledge”:

We believe a successful business is dependent on a healthy environment. We are actively working to show our environmental responsibility to our community by committing to the following objectives:

  • To comply with all applicable regulations and strive to exceed compliance.
  • To conserve energy, water, materials, and other resources.
  • To develop and implement practices that prevent pollution and waste.
  • To be an environmentally responsible business with our community.

The Green Business Program recognizes businesses for meeting standards in the following areas:

  • Compliance with environmental regulations
  • Energy Conservation
  • Water Conservation
  • Waste reduction & recycling
  • Pollution Prevention

CARING FOR OUR ENVIRONMENT

We are very conscious of the environment in all aspects of our business. Larry's AutoWorks is the only shop to receive the Susanne B. Wilson Environmental Achievement Award for businesses of less than 100 employees in Santa Clara County. We received this award in 1993 for our environmentally sound facility and practices, including creating a Zero Discharge methodology. In addition, we've received many other National, State and local environmental awards and certifications, and have been a "Green Business" since the inception of the program. Larry is a frequent speaker at county government sponsored industry awareness programs regarding running a "Green" automotive repair shop and also appears on a widely distributed industry specific video regarding subjects filmed in our facility.
Larry serves on the Source Reduction Advisory Committee for the State of California, Department of Toxic Substances, Pollution Prevention Agency. He was appointed to this position in 1999 by then Governor Gray Davis. In this capacity he reviews work being done by this agency and makes recommendations for future work projects regarding source reduction of pollution in the state.

OUR COMPANY ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY

Keeping our environment safe and healthy is an important part of Larry's AutoWorks. This applies to both our daily work environment and the world environment.

The Daily Work Environment: Our working environment can only be kept at its best through the cooperation of everyone in maintaining a clean, well-organized and safe facility. The use of "Common Courtesy" and an attitude that focuses on solutions, not problems, will go a long way toward maintaining a supportive emotional work environment for the entire team.

Company Policy: supports the recycling or reuse of as much of the paper, cardboard, plastic, metal, and glass products we handle as possible. Any suggestions to further reduce the amount of waste we produce are encouraged on a company-wide basis.

The World Environment: By paying attention to how we operate on a daily basis we contribute to a better world environment. Through the practices of recycling and reuse of materials we reduce the amount of waste we generate. Through the use of proper servicing methods of customer's vehicles we contribute to cleaner air and water. And through careful control of materials and fluids generated from the repair and service of vehicles we eliminate the chance of ground and water contamination.

Company Policy: requires strict adherence to "Best Management Practices" in the handling and storage of onsite Hazardous Materials to assure the cleanest and safest environment possible.
